Our ancestors.
Cockroaches are an ancient species. They have remained unchanged since their first appearance 300 million years ago, although their ancestors lacked some of the parts they have now. Cockroaches are common and strong insects They can withstand a wide range of conditions and climates, especially tropical and subtropical. This insect is able to tolerate low temperatures, which allows them to live in the Arctic. Some of these species are able to live in temperatures of -122ºC (-188ºF) producing a kind of “antifreeze” substance in their organism. Although the nature of cockroaches allows them to be hardy, their social skills allow them to build elaborate structures for coexistence and communication with others of their kind.
Places to live.
Cockroaches inhabit a wide variety of places: some live in vegetation debris, rotten wood, garbage piles, etc. Some cockroaches have developed mechanisms of survival without access to water. On the other hand, other species of cockroaches are aquatic – they live near water sources and swim in them to find food. Many of them breathe by piercing the water with part of their anatomy that serves as a snorkel, although some carry an air bubble under their chest. In the forest they can hide in bird and insect nests, or among mushrooms.. Approximately 20 species of cockroaches coexist with temperatures and humidity similar to those necessary for humans. Domestic cockroaches spend 70-80% of their lives in crevices.making it difficult to find out that they live there.

Cockroaches are one of the toughest insects because they are able to stay active for a month with limited resources. They are normally omnivorous. Cockroaches can feed on anything as long as it’s organic: bread, fruit, skin, bookbinding gum, paper, glue, dead skin, hair, dead bugs, dirty clothes, and even alcohol.
It’s not a myth that a cockroach’s head is able to live and move its antennae for several hours. And did you know that the body of a well-fed cockroach can live for several weeks without its head? It is believed that cockroaches will be the only ones to live on earth even after humanity destroys itself in a radioactive war.
In fact, this insect has a much greater capacity (from 6 to 15 times) to resist radiation than man. This is due to the cycle of your cells. Cells are most resistant to radiation when they are in the process of dividing. Cockroach cells divide only once when shedding their skin. And since not all cockroaches shed their skin at the same time, many of them would not be affected by radiation, but the consequences of continuous radiation would be harmful to them.
There is no doubt that cockroaches are the toughest insects in the world. Mother Nature has provided them with unique abilities that allow them to survive and escape any threat. Although only 20 species out of the 4,000 that exist are found in areas inhabited by people, they are a solid mass of diseases that are harmful to human health and, of course, comfort.
